Andy Howard, an advisor on the installation of commercial and residential biomass boilers and Edward Milbank, who produces woodchip on the Barningham Estate near Richmond, received Government funding to buy a truck for their Pennine Biomass firm.
The vehicle will be converted into a woodfuel delivery vehicle, allowing woodchip to be blown directly into customers’ fuel hoppers, and will be the first of its kind in the region.
Pennine Biomass works with customers from looking at the initial project feasibility and design to boiler installation, after-sales care and fuelling from local woodlands.
The team has set up a partnership of fuel depots in the region, which will supply woodchip delivery directly to the biomass boiler, and also provide a diversified market for local timber.
The expansion into fuel delivery has created one part-time job at the business, which received cash for the truck from Rural Development Programme for England.
